Christmas is a time to cellar-brate
The last few weeks of 2015 have been an exciting time in the winery, as this is when we’ve been finalising the blends for our 2014 reds – and, the extra cherry on our trifle is how incredible the 2014 vintage is showing! The Merlot has just been bottled and the Shiraz is scheduled for early next year, after which we’ll bid them farewell for another year or so of maturation.

Following 8 months of barrel maturation, the Viognier from the highly-regarded 2015 vintage has also just been bottled. Watch out for the release of this hugely anticipated wine early in the new year.

Lush green canopies drape like tinsel over our steep Constantia slopes and concentrated bunches are starting to form – our favourite festive decorations!

Excitement is looming in anticipation of “Harvest 2016”. With drier conditions experienced this year, we’re anticipating an early start – and all signs are promising another great vintage. The vineyards have now reached a beautiful maturity. The 2016 harvest will be the 11th crop from the oldest vines on the farm, first planted 14 years ago. Kobus and the team are rigorously managing the vines with shoot placement and leaf removal, ensuring optimal ripening and colour.

I’m dreaming of a wine Christmas

We are delighted to have recently released the latest vintage. This 4th vintage of Sauvignon Blanc shows beautiful aromas of passion fruit, pineapple and guavas, and a fresh lively acidity. Ideally paired with sushi, grilled fish, summer salads or shellfish.

We’re almost on our last few cases of this best-seller. With it’s delicate orange blossom, peach skin and jasmine flower flavours, the wine is showing wonderfully – and positive freshness suggests it will also benefit from further ageing (through to 2019).


This vintage exhibits an enticing red berry intensity, showing pedigree from a riper vintage and more mature vines. There’s a textured array of gorgeous red berry fruit, complemented by nuanced savoury spice and crushed pepper. Limited cases remain from this small vintage production.


Following the phenomenal success of its predecessors, our Shiraz 2013 is now available. A textbook cool climate vintage, it shows elegant spice and restrained fruit, focused by balanced acidity, and the hallmark pepper and spice aromas associated with Eagles’ Nest Shiraz.

The perfect wine to enjoy on warm summer days. Expect juicy aromas of strawberry mousse and sensational cranberry, with a light and zesty palate supported by fresh acidity and a hint of sweet red berry fruit.

Our Tasting Room is open throughout the festive season (excluding 25 December, 26 December and 1 January).
